Dryness
Factors that can cause dryness and breakdown the skin barrier include:
One
Over cleansing will strip your skin of the lipids crucial for moisture retention. Also, the use of any face wipes (disapproving stare from us) will strip your skin. Remember always use tepid water when washing as too much heat damages and dries the skin.
TWO
Manual exfoliation (we prefer chemical exfoliation to avoid creating micro tears the skin) or too much chemical exfoliation will break down the skin barrier causing dryness and sensitivities.
THREE
As we age our skin begins to produce less oil which means we need to be counteracting this loss with nourishing skincare.
FOUR
Ther are many skin conditions such as dermatitis and eczema which cause damage to our skin barrier creating dry, flaky skin.
*Some medications such as diuretics, acne medication can also cause our skin to become dry. Other medical conditions like diabetes, thyroid conditions, vitamin deficiency affect our skin quality also which makes it more susceptible to dryness.
We have these symptoms covered with a hydrating powerhouse that will nourish and repair.
Vitamin B3, B5 & Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum
The Vitamin B3, B5 & Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum is the holy grail of hydration. It is clinically proven to instantly improve moisture levels within the skin.
Packed with 12% Vitamin B3 (commonly known as Niacinamide) which is shown to strengthen barrier function, hydrate and reduce trans-epidermal water loss. It works by promoting the production of ceramides within the skin which help shield the skin from external factors that dry the skin. Niacinamide has also been found to stimulate keratin production which helps to strengthen the skin.
While we want our skin to produce ceramides, we have also included them as an ingredient in our serum to help aid in moisture retention to protect and strengthen the skin barrier.
Everyone loves Vitamin B3, but a lesser-known hero is Vitamin B5 (also known as Panthenol). We’ve included panthenol as it is not only a humectant but also an emollient. A humectant holds and binds water to the skin while as an emollient it works as a barrier to lock in moisture.
While we’re discussing humectants as a must in any hydrating products, the most well-known humectant is Hyaluronic Acid (HA), HA is a naturally occurring sugar molecule within the skin that has unparalleled water binding qualities that will create dewy, hydrated skin. And when expertly paired with other specific moisture retaining and hydrating ingredients such as polyglutamic acid, glycerine and Sodium PCA found in our hydrating serum it is your fast track to a healthy skin barrier full of moisture.
