Dehydration
To combat dehydrated skin, it requires products that are going to draw water into the skin with their water binding properties.
While dry skin is caused by lack of lipids allowing the skin to lose moisture, dehydrated skin is from a lack of water. Any skin type can become dehydrated, even people with extremely oily skin, we often see this in people with T-Zone concerns.
Water deficiency within the skin can be caused by many external factors, including heat and UV damage. Environmental stressors strip the moisture from our skin. People often notice this most in the winter months when humidity lowers and heaters are constantly being used inside which can cause our skin to become dry.
Consuming a lack of water or too much alcohol and caffeine, as a dehydrated body equals dehydrated skin.
Skin can also become more dehydrated as we age due to decreased production of ceramides which help to retain water within the skin. This can also occur with hormonal changes, especially during menopause, as well as genetics factors and skin conditions.
Signs of Dehydration include oily T-one, acne, enlarged pores, fine lines and wrinkles and a dull complexion.
