Why we chose to formulate with mushroom extract

Why we chose to formulate with mushroom extract
A hidden gem in our one of our formulations is Polyporus Umbellatus mushroom extract, a powerhouse ingredient that can be found in our 12% AHA/BHA Exfoliating Serum.

Exfoliation is a crucial step in any skincare routine, as it helps remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and promote cell turnover. Traditional exfoliants often rely on harsh physical exfoliation or low-quality chemicals, but the use of natural ingredients like Polyporus Umbellatus mushroom extract combined with cosmeceutical grade actives, offers a gentler yet extremely effective alternative.

Polyporus Umbellatus has been a staple in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries due to its potent medicinal properties. Derived from the Zhu Ling mushroom, the extract is rich in bioactive compounds, including beta-glucans, triterpenoids, and antioxidants, making it a valuable addition to skincare formulations.

Mushroom Extract has notable moisture-retaining properties-thanks to the beta-glucans. By including it in our exfoliating serums, it helps maintain the skin's hydration levels, preventing the dryness often associated with exfoliation. This makes it suitable for all skin types, including those with dry or sensitive skin.

The triterpenoids found in Polyporus Umbellatus extract contribute to collagen synthesis, promoting skin elasticity and firmness. This makes it a valuable addition to anti-aging skincare routines, helping reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Polyporus Umbellatus extractalso contains antioxidants that combat free radicals, promoting a brighter complexion. These antioxidants provide a shield against environmental stressors, such as pollution and UV rays, helping to prevent premature aging and enhancing skins resilience.

Lastly, our mushroom extract demonstrates anti-bacterial activity against several strains of bacteria, including bacteria that causes acne (Propionibacterium acnes) adding an extra layer of defence to our serum when treating congested and acne prone skin.
