How to revive dull skin this summer

How to revive dull skin this summer

Dull appearing skin is often characterized as skin that lacks a healthy-looking glow and appears tired, lusterless and even rough. Dull skin often has an uneven tone and texture, unlike glowing radiant skin.

Common signs of dull skin include:

  • Dehydrated skin
  • Darkness under the eye area
  • Skin appears less radiant than usual
  • Skin appears more pigmented than usual

Some reasons for dull-looking skin include:

  • a pile-up of dead skin cells
  • debris from the day (like pollution)
  • Dehydration
  • sun damage
  • fatigue and lack of quality sleep
  • poor diet lacking in antioxidants and nutrition
  • iron deficiency
  • ageing
  • incorrect skin products for your skins type.

Ever wondered how some people just have radiant skin?

Let us explain:

Your complexion looks radiant when it's smooth enough to reflect light.

Exfoliation and antioxidants are key to get your glow on.

Firstly, start by using a chemical exfoliant like the 12% AHA/BHA Exfoliating Serum 1-2 per week and increasing to around 3 times per week as tolerated. This allows any build-up of dead skin to be gentle removed without disrupting the skins barrier or being too abrasive like physical exfoliants. Chemical exfoliants melt away the dead skin cells to unveil your luminous healthy skin from beneath the surface.

Secondly, use your antioxidants, like our 15% Vitamin C Lustrum Serum in the morning. Vitamin C can do wonders for brightening your dull skin, if used regularly. Vitamin C when applied topically, interacts with tyrosinase, the main enzyme responsible for the production of pigment in the skin, thereby reducing brown spots and dull like appearance. In addition to Vitamin C, Ferulic Acid is a powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free-radical damage from pollution, ultraviolet light, and infrared radiation, all of which accelerate skin aging, adding to a dull appearance.

If your someone who cannot tolerate Vitamin C in their skincare routine, or you really want to ramp up your results, use Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) instead. Niacinamide improves uneven skin tone, softens fine lines and wrinkles, diminish dullness, and strengthen a weakened skin barrier function- found in our Vitamin B3, B5 & Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum.
