Summers skin rituals with Saint Louve
Your skin changes with the seasons and so should the way you care for it.
Below is my list of top tips and tricks to maintain luminous healthy skin this summer.
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. I cannot stress this enough. When skin is well-hydrated, it is plumper and more resilient. This is partly due to an ingredient found in the skin called hyaluronic acid. The job of hyaluronic acid in the skin is to hold water. When there is adequate water from inside and out the skin looks healthier and more vibrant and is less prone to wrinkles. Instantly improve moisture levels within the skin, visibly reduce dehydration, fine lines & excess oil and support the skins barrier with our Vitamin B3, B5 & Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum. 100% of participants agreed this serum gave them instant hydration.
Double cleanse in the evening, with the warmer weather comes increased SPF use, sweating and excess oil production. Now is the time to double cleanse once or twice per day. Firstly to remove makeup, SPF and build up, secondly to effectively cleanse the skin.
Exfoliate for healthy looking skin, your skin’s sebaceous glands start producing more sebum (natural oil) in summer. The oil secretion gets stuck on the surface of the skin, leading to a shiny appearance and blocked pores. Acne breakouts are the most common skin problem in summer. People with oily skin types are more prone to acne as the bacteria and oils in the skins surface mix with the sweat causing clogged pores and then result in acne. Opt for our 12% AHA/BHA Exfoliating Serum for the perfect blend of acids to remove dead skin cells on the surface of the skin and clean out the pores and excess oils.
Invest in a Vitamin C. A Vitamin C serum is a good option for a summer skincare routine as it's a potent antioxidant, a free radical scavenger that protects your skin from environmental damaging factors like UV damage. It also brightens the skin and helps reduce the appearance of brown spots and undamaged skin. Our 15% Vitamin C Lustrum Serum has been formulated with 5 types of Vitamin C as well as being packed full if skin brightening ingredients like Ferulic Acid, Bearberry Root Extract, Hexylresorcinol. 95% of trial participants saw a reduction in pigmentation, sunspots, freckles or melasma in 42 days with this phenomenal serum.
You have two options with retinol. Retinols and retinoids make you more sensitive to the sun, and for this reason, I recommend either reducing the frequency of use or being more religiously consistent with sunscreen. For best results we recommend our 0.25% Encapsulated Retinol Serum paired witht he daily use of the world's first 50SPF mist By Olivia Rae.
Switch to light weight moisturiser. Even though we are more prone to sweating in the summer, your skin still needs to be moisturized. However, since seasonal dryness isn't common in the summertime, you don't need a rich cream the same as your winter one. Maintaining hydration with a lightweight moisturiser and hydrating serum with give you all the hydration without making you feel sticky and heavy.
Level up SPF and don’t leave home without it. If you're not using and SPF daily, take this as a gentle reminder to start. When taking proper care of your skin, an SPF should be a non-negotiable in your skincare routine. In fact, a lot of efforts are lost without protecting your skin from UV damage, not to mention the benefits it has with lowering the risk of skin cancer. Using daily SPF will prevent key signs on ageing ie wrinkles, fine lines, breakdown of collagen, assist in promoting an even skin tone and reduce pigmentation. Also remember: exfoliated skin is more likely to burn, so when using AHA/BHA’s and retinols this step is critical.
